Garden Classes Around Town

Hello, fellow gardeners!

As we embrace the 2025 gardening season, it's the perfect time to enhance our green thumbs and connect with the vibrant gardening community here in Athmar Park. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting out, there are numerous classes and workshops available to help you cultivate your skills. Here are some fantastic resources to consider:


Denver Botanic Gardens

The Denver Botanic Gardens offers a variety of adult programs, including hands-on workshops, certificate courses, and public lectures. Their Rocky Mountain Gardening Certificate Series is particularly popular, providing comprehensive studies tailored to Front

Range gardening. For those seeking flexibility, they also offer online learning options. ​



Denver Urban Gardens (DUG)

DUG's Community Education programs are designed to inspire and equip gardeners at all levels. They offer workshops on organic growing, composting, preservation, and more. Additionally, DUG hosts free hour-long Community Garden Walking Tours across metro Denver once a month on Wednesdays from 4-5pm, from May to September. ​



Colorado State University (CSU) Extension – Denver County

CSU Extension provides the Colorado Master Gardener program, which includes in-depth horticultural training. Applications for the Denver Master Gardener Program are accepted in August for classes starting in November. For those unable to commit to volunteer hours, the Master Gardener Certificate Program offers the same courses without the volunteer component. 



The Urban Farm

Located in Denver, The Urban Farm is a non-profit community farm and educational center that offers hands-on agricultural experiences for urban youth and the community. They provide unique opportunities to learn about agriculture without leaving the city. ​The Urban



Tagawa Gardens

Tagawa Gardens hosts a variety of classes and events throughout the year. While many classes are free, they also offer specialized workshops for a fee. It's a great place to stay updated on new plant arrivals and Colorado gardening tips. 



Happiness Community Gardens

Located in Wheat Ridge, Happiness Gardens offers plot registrations and hosts regenerative agriculture workshops. Registration for new gardeners opens on March 1, 2025. ​Rooted in



Central Park Master Community Association (MCA)

The MCA manages 30 garden plots in the North Central Park neighborhood. While all garden spots are filled for 2025, applications for the 2026 season will open in December. ​



Denver Master Gardener Plant Sale

Save the dates for the 2025 Plant Sale on May 17-18, featuring heirloom and modern tomatoes, New Mexico chiles, annuals, and perennials. The sale will be held at CSU Denver Extension office in Harvard Gulch Park. 



Community Gardens

If you're interested in joining a community garden, Denver Urban Gardens (DUG) stewards 192 community gardens across six counties in the Denver Metro area. You can find a garden near you and learn about the registration process on their website.
